EICR – Electrical Installation Condition Report – Residential
What is an EICR?
An electrical installation condition report (EICR) identifies defects, deterioration, and damages to the electrical system. We can also identify works that have been carried poorly, or where incorrect installation methods have been used
The EICR indicates potential dangers and gives recommendations for any improvement within a property. It will establish whether an electrical installation meets with safety and compliance with the current regulations BS7671.
A valid EICR with a ‘satisfactory’ result on the overall assessment is required in order to start or renew a tenancy agreement. This is to ensure that the electrical safety within a home is safe for use by tenants and has been made a mandatory requirement since 2020.
If you are a homeowner, it is recommended to conduct an electrical inspection every ten years if the property is privately owned.
